I live in Vancouver. It is the greatest, most beautiful city in Canada. And I go to UBC, one of the top rated, most well known and respected universities in Canada. And yet, stupidly, when I think of going back to visit Thunder Bay I get excited. Not just because Paul is there.
Simply, when I was in Thunder Bay, I was happier than I have ever been in my life. Weird, but there it is. It's when everything just fell into place and it all fell into Thunder Bay.
I still love Vancouver, and I love UBC, and I am sickeningly happy here. But I think I'll always think fondly of Thunder Bay for that reason. It was where I got happy. And a lot of the reasons for that happiness are still there. Paul, Casper, Lisa, Adam, Ginnie, Eric, Cascades, Centennial, CNFER - I miss them all. Not MORE than I love Vancouver... but enough to make me kind of like the city that I hated for my whole first year there.
Weird.
40 Days!
And THEN I get to go to the Olympics! Yep - we bought tickets. They are christmas presents for the parents (don't tell them!), but we figured we may as well go too. So Olympic curling here we come! Woo! We'll try to control those crazy curling hooligans. I know some people who are specifically LEAVING the city to avoid it all, but I'm excited to be part of it. Mom and Dad know that we're going to do SOMETHING regarding the Olympics for them for Christmas because we had to make sure they'd be willing to fly out here again and to book flights soon. But they don't know what exactly. It makes me smile a lot to picture their faces when we give them the tickets. (even though they cost them probably $1200 in plane tickets...)
