woooooo! I've returned from my vacation. photos to ensue after I have them processed (thank you the wonderful blue moon).
Vacation breakdown
# of red lights run: 3 (chagrin)
# of occasions where I failed to remember that the speed limits in canada are posted in kilometers per hour not mph: a brazillian times
# of dairy queens I saw: quite possibly around 25
# of times I thought I was hopelessly lost: 4
Places I visited
University of British Columbia's Museum of Anthropology
Vancouver Aquarium
Botanical Gardens
Vancouver Zoo (whoa, it was the most substandard zoo I have ever visited. It was scarcely a level above travelling carnival petting zoos)
Speaking of travelling carnivals... You probably remember people telling you how dangerous travelling carnival rides are, correct? Well, shock of all shocks, they're dangerous on the road, as well. On my drive to Vancouver, I saw 3 separate ride trailers that had been in an accident on I-5. I'd like to further iterate that it was merely a 310 mile drive. That's a lot of freaking carnival related accidents.
Regarding driving, dear Oregon/Washington drivers, if you're going to wear the daddy-pants and drive in the fast lane, could you please drive at least the speed limit. There are three lanes. I assure you that I won't think you less of a man if you drive in the middle or GASP far right lane.
Sidenote. I saw two lotus elises on my drive home. I wouldn't ever want one, but they are quite pretty.
At the Museum of Anthropology, there were drawers of Native Tribal artificats ranging from clothing, jewelry, instruments, etc. A woman next to me was commenting on how small their bone structure must have been because a pair boots in the drawer were extremely tiny. Her friend commented that they were probably for a doll. I then had a chance to view these boots, and I started laughing. They were the size of action figure boots. Like He-Man size.
Did you know that there is a street in Washington called "Chuckanut"? The more you know...
I have two interviews tomorrow, we'll see how they go.
Must listen to the Lady Sovereign...
