Woooo! tonight's performance of
Wicked brought down the house! The beautiful
Boston Opera House, gilded and glittery as always, was absolutely packed for tonight's show - seriously the best production I've ever seen there which, yes, includes 2004's glorious grand reopening performance of The Lion King-- which had some very decent performers, true, true, but no one who could rattle the rafters like these 2 sistahs, yow.
The set was glorious. This sort of steampunk theme, beautifully designed. The Great and Powerful Oz animated puppet was really amazing. Staging and design, brilliant. Lighting & effects, wow. And there were loads of flying monkeys! Flying monkeys! Yes!
(Pictured = Victoria Matlock and Christina DeCicco, btw)
Dinner tonight at
The Beehive, a very cool restored building over in newly trendy South End. Sightly pretentious but with a decent burger although they did not have fries only frites, oui oui, dusted with sage and sea salt, tres tastee.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go buy the soundtrack and listen to it over and over again then go stalk the performer's websites and send them deranged email. :D
