many of the blogs that i read on my "friends page" add the ocasional drunken post (
pilarcruz i'm looking at you) and so it is in that spirit that i am adding the drunkin blog entry to my all too short and pointless efort to keep people posted on the minutia of my life.
first of all context: suchi, salsa dancing, sangeria, soju. I am actually not too terribly drunk but he cigars, cigerettes and soju have been injected straight into my brain my the wonderous bliss of the evening. J&Y hosted the party and it was perfect as it slowly moved through the mutations of the night. how do you put words to the night when nothing specific happens but in the moments of all the nothingness that happens a certain emotional acttachment is created to both the nigtht and all the people that were lucky enough to be there to witness it. by the end there were five of us, four teachers and a former student of mine who just returned from Down Under and plays a mean guitar. he played as the rest of us burst out with imprompto lyrics
it is the nights like tonight that remind me that the moments that make a life worth living are not the great moments when you are able to see the sun rise over Anchor Wat but the evenings in which you did not have to worry about the impression you are making but you are comfortatable and at ease as the evening spills out in its natural arch as each moment of the night flows, organically, to the next and time just slowly ebbs without leaving a trace. if tonight (with or without the alchocol) is an example of the nights i remember that it will be hard for me to look back on my life and not consider it a life well lived. sometimes things just happen and they are the right things and though outwardly they my show none of the signs of a special moment, they are special moments and tonight was one of those nights.
So ladies and gentlemen, tonight has been a moment that has made me realize how little i have to complain about; i hope all of you will be able to feel the bliss of a moment like this in the near future. and as the soju wears off the sleepiness is taking its place. for those of you reading this who are not in Asia, take it from someone who has already been there, today will be a great day.
