Sick Children

My little sister is sick, she's either got the flu or the virus that's been going around lately.

Either way, guess what? My job is to take care of her. Most likely because they all know I won't get sick from her. It's very rare for me to get sick from someone, but I'm usually struggling with a cold of my own for weeks at a time. I think that's 'cause I generally just ignore the cold and move on with my life as if having a cold was a normal thing for every day life. But as far as it goes for catching things from other people - it is rare.

I remember as a kid my friends would get the chicken pox and all the similar diseases and I'd still visit them and hang out with them and never get the disease. The only time I had a major disease was this one I can't even remember the name of, but it was kind of like the chicken pox except I ended up being boarded up in the master bedroom for two weeks with full service and no sun. The doctor said that the sun will only make my illness worse, so my parents had to put up these thick dark curtains in the bedroom to keep every single ray of sunshine the hell out. Truth be told, those were the best two damn weeks of my life. I got to stay in darkness playing video games for two weeks while my parents brought me food to the king sized bed I resided in and tended to every little whim of mine. It was so awesome. I wish I could still do that.

Anyway...while my mom generally depends on the over-the-counter drugs I take a completely different approach. Most definitely not my sister's favorite but the most effective one. I use herbal medicine combined with drug-store medications.

So far I have given her a painkiller with a fever reducer, it's called polypiryna-s, it's kind of like tylenol except stronger. I also gave her some Gypsy tea, it does a good job of lowering high-temps and helps to breathe. My sister hates the taste of that tea, so I might have to find a way to make it taste better. I'm thinking of trying to add some honey. Tomorrow I'm going to give her this other kind of tea for colds. Forgot the name at the moment, but I'll get it eventually.

Another interesting event of tonight - since my sister is sick her stomach hasn't been taking well with food. So after the tea, the pills and some pudding - there came projectile vomit in the hallway and more in the bathroom. Of course, I got stuck cleaning up the hallway. At least there weren't any food chunks considering she hasn't been able to eat much.

Other than that, I think it's time for me to eat something, drink something, and find something to occupy me for the rest of the night. Or at least until I find myself drowsy.

Sinfully Yours,
~Sin
