I have been living in the same small home for the past three years with no problems. I own my house, but rent the land it is on (mobile home park). Earlier this year, management changed, and they changed my animal rules to having only two pets per household. I have indoor-only cats, plus dogs. They NEVER cause any problems with anyone, but they still want to enforce their newly-imposed rules on everyone. Because of this, I have started looking for a new home/living situation, but in the mean time, need to make it so my cats appear to be non-existent (since I have dogs who do need to go outside to potty).

I have many years of sewing experience under my belt, as well as a friend and roommate who is very knowledgeable in construction, and your regular "Mr. Fix-It." I have four windows, one of which is quite large, that I need to cover up so my cats are not seen from outside. Because I still like to have natural light come in, I want to construct a window covering that allows for natural sunlight to come in (from the top half of the window), but keeps my cats from being seen from the outside. I know this is not the ideal situation, but I will not "get rid" of any of my pets, so for the time being, I need to make them to appear "invisible" to the average outsider. I was thinking of putting up hooks all along my windows so I can open the top to let light in, but keep the bottom half covered.

I know how important natural sunlight is to indoor animals, and plan on making this into a temporary solution, until I can find a new home. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! :)
