Saturday we met with our landscaper's wife who does the plants/trees part of the landscaping. We met with her at our home and went to a nursery to pick out plants. This was much fun for me as I am no green thumb, so I was enthralled at all the options and look forward to a very green backyard. I've got to read up on maintainence so my plants don't die!
Area A - Side yard with pathway
- Iceburg roses
- Japanese boxwoods
- Camellias
- Azaleas
- Hydrangeas
Area B - Single corner planter (shown in photo above against the back corner)
- 1 Kawakamii tree (leaves change color)
- Oregano plants
- Border of color annuals (mix of solid color pansies most likely)
Area C - Corner planter at end of curvy planter wall (way at the back of this photo)
- 1 Branford tree (evergreen, leaves stay green do not fall off)
- Sage and Basil plants
- Border of color annuals (mix of solid color pansies most likely)
Area D - The curvy planter wall (pictured above)
- a large Camillia trellis in front of studio window (window in photo)
- alternating iceburg roses and lavendar
- 1 lemon tree
- 1 orange tree
- a few Campanula (bellflower)
- mondo grass and color annuals to complete ground cover
Area E - In front of the air conditioning unit in the grass beyond the curve of the patio
- 1 Crape Myrtle
- circle of color annuals
Then on the block wall, on all three sides, we're going to have Star Jasmine vines. She said it helps with the intense heat the walls can give off in summer and their small white flowers are fragrant. I think it will help it not look so much like a block prison! ;)
And if all goes as planned, this will all be in by Friday or Saturday. Then next week the guys will come in and lay the sod and put on our wood gate. I wouldn't bet my life on the previous happening though. I'm expecting some kind of excuse to delay progress.
