"Now hear the dark gun punching out that....... that I may love you..."

Two saturday's ago I saw Engine Down, Poison The Well and Thursday. I had a good time. We brought one of our coworkers who listens to 103 and that garbage with us. We fed him lots of beer and whisky and I believe he had a good time. Slowly I'll convert him. No one should listen to that damn euro/house trash. Ever.

The best part of the show was during "Jet Black New Year" they had confetti cannons shooting all over the crowd. It looked really cool.

The rest of the week was slow, until wednesday, and I made Jess drive me to Evergreen Terrace and On Broken Wings, so I could party. I wasn't very nice to her all night and I felt really bad about it the next day, hell, even now. The show was great except for Embrace Today... "THIS SONG IS CALLED FUCK YOU I'M EDGE! IT'S OFF OUR CD: FUCK YOU I'M EDGE" Shut the fuck up. I was tempted to throw my beer at him, but that'd be alcohol abuse. ha. ha. ha..

On Broken Wings were great, I liked the old stuff a lot better than the new stuff. They ruined "I Do My Crosswords In Pen" when they gave the mic to the crowd for the normally hilarious "Heartless... Heartless..... HEARTLESS!" part.

Oh. Evergreen Terrace didn't cover "Enjoy The Silence" and they should've.

Thursday night the lovely Jenn King returned from Ottawa and we went to see Chromeo and The Unicorns.

Chromeo was soooo good. Really stupid, but really good. They're a live hip-hop/r&b/80's group that the hip-hop editor of VICE put together. The vocoder/talkbox action was priceless, and any band that has an "intro" song that keeps on mentioning the name of their band wins. Also, banter like "Yeah, give it up for P-Thug's parole officer who's backstage!" is great.

The Unicorns surprised me, as Joel had heard they sucked live, but this wasn't true.
The first song was rough, and then they destroyed the main synth line in "Tuff Ghost" because they didn't have the right synth.

Other than that they were really awesome. Lot's of energy and they changed instruments A LOT. Their banter was good too.. "We just got off of tour with the Wu-Tang Clan, and let me tell you, they're great guys". It was funny because D'Arcy was wearing a Wu Tang shirt. They also made a good rollerblade joke.

I have a really nice drafting table and lamp set up in a corner of my room now. It's going to make things a lot easier. My back kills after working on the floor. It adjusts from flat, to different degrees of tilt, so it almost doubles as an easel.

Friday was Fordirelifesake. I had a blast at this show, everyone was there, and I'm glad because I hate it when there's a terrible turnout for a really good band, which happens to be the case in Barrie quite often.

I think it'll be a quiet week this week, until thursday at least, I'm really excited about seeing Between The Buried And Me in such a small club. I hope they can pull off the Silent Circus songs perfectly...
