I missed the first ep entirely, so all I knew going into the second ep was what I'd gathered from the ads, so it didn't all make sense. And even then I was online more than watching so I still missed stuff (like, why did they leave the boat in the first place? And I completely missed the thing with the bear. There was a bear?).
Maybe they explained it in the premiere, but what's the significance of the mark on the back of the girl's neck in that video/flashback? (I'm assuming she's the wife of the missing guy, because the person filming made a comment about the two kids being married someday.)
I don't care about any of the characters at this point either. And the camera style drives me nuts. I'll give it another ep or two, but I'm thinking this show isn't for me.
The River 101: 20 Years Ago, man had globetrotting TV show, and brought his wife and kid along on the adventure. They had a boat, the Magus, and the catchphrase "There's magic out there!" (used to describe the wonders of nature.)
The River's version of flashbacks is showing old footage (both broadcast and raw footage) from this time.
Also on the TV show crew were a cameraman and his daughter, both kids about the same age. And I think the producer is the same, but I'm not positive.
The show ran many years.
Six moths ago, adventure man disappeared without a trace on the Amazon River (same cameraman was with him, but different producer.) They thought him dead until his beacon started transmitting again. A new expedition (read: documentary about missing adventurer) is launched with man's wife and now estranged (med school graduate) son. Daughter of cameraman comes along too, also looking for her dad
( ... )
That is... sort of complicated. Because I have trouble keeping track if there are more than about three characters. o.O
Oh, the teddy bear!! Okay, yeah, I caught that part, though I missed the part where they explained he'd thrown it in the ocean (I wondered how the bear ended up in that part of the world). I thought you were talking about a real bear (leaving aside the fact that bears do not live in such climates).
I sort of caught the part with the necklace but did not connect it with the mark on the girl. Okay. Detail explained.
Hmm. If it's only eight eps, I may watch the season. But only if it doesn't interfere with anything else I watch. ;)
(leaving aside the fact that bears do not live in such climates)
I take it you didn't watch Lost long enough to see the polar bears?
I have the worst memory for character names, particularly when I hear them (as on TV) instead of reading them. This is why there wasn't a single name in the above description - I've forgotten them all. And that's not the show's fault, it's mine.
