I watched the first two episode of The River that aired back-to-back last night.
I have mixed feelings about this series.
The characters are a bit bland. I like the mechanic's daughter. I dislike the wife/mother. I really don't care about anyone else.
The series does a good job with creepy stuff, but it seems to be creepy for the sake of being creepy. I must have missed some bit of expository dialog, because I never did quite understand what was going on in the first episode.
The second episode was very, very good in the creepy department, but once I started thinking about it, it bugged me that they were able to resolve the situation based on their assumptions about the situation based on a story one character heard when she was a child. It just seemed too convenient.
Did anyone but me think that the bear didn't want to be left behind? Poor bear.
It's nice to see Bruce Greenwood (the missing adventurer/husband/father) and Paul Blackstone (the producer - not the missing one) again. I didn't recognize anyone else.
