"Don't eat muffins when I'm developing you!"

Well, I toddled off to the gynaecologist's this morning, expecting nothing particularly exciting to ensue. I was right, although the electric-blanket-heated exam table/bed was much appreciated. It's COOLD outside. Inside, however, everything's where it should be, doing what it should be. Excellent.

Right now I have a beautiful purple bruise, about 10 cm long and 6 wide, on my left outer thigh. I managed to whack it into a wall-mounted fire extinguisher in one of the portacoms on Wednesday. I haven't had a bruise this good since I slipped on the stairs at Ben's place last year and (when grabbing at the hand rail) swung myself into the stair wall. Klutz? Moi?

The third season of Black Books started on TV1 last night. Extremely funny, and quite understandable despite the fact that I haven't seen season two yet. My favourite quote of the night is saved for posterity in the subject line, above. And directed at Manny, of course!

My latest TradeMe purchase, the three books of The Black Orchid, by Neil Gaiman and Dave McKean, arrived yesterday. Beautiful artwork (reminding me of David Mack's Kabuki colour-work in Metamorphosis), and a story with some twists that were entirely unexpected. I've already read the first two books, and will read the third after lunch.

And while I was waiting at the gynae's this morning I started reading The Broken Goddess, by Hans Bemmann. I'm not liking the writing style at all, but I'm perserving for the plot. I'm only 62 pages in, so I'll give it another 50 or so before I decided whether to continue or not. Anyone else read it?

Linkety goodness:

~ murnkay collapses the wall between verses with the weirdest crossover ever: Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are in Black.

~ A fascinating look at truth and reality from starfirenz is here: To speak or not to speak?

~ An appalling article about doctors and pharmacists (in the States, natch) denying women birth control options, including the pill: Access Denied. Mistress Matisse linked to this yesterday.

~ Apparently there's a War on Pornography going on. And google-bombing, as well. Here's my part - go check out the FleshBot link (the page is safe for work, the site probably is not).

And ... off to eat yummy pizza for lunch :)

comix, books, yoni
