Actually, I'm in a really good mood today. But when I wrote my
TwoHeadedCat column late last week, I was ready to do some serious damage. Go and read, then come back for the slightly happier update. Or read the happier update first. Whatever floats your boat.

Awake too Early:
Deb SmashI'm angry right now. Not a terribly exciting thing - people have emotions; anger is an emotion. I am a person, who feels emotions. Therefore (gotta love those
enthymemes and
syllogisms) I feel anger.

bigtaz was admitted to hospital last Friday - for the fourth time this year. His face was swollen up so badly that he could no longer keep his eyes open, and you couldn't see his eyelashes at all, the puffiness was so great. It also turned out that he had fluid in one of his lungs. Ick. The doctors were pretty onto it, and put him back on steriods for the swelling (apparently, the reason they didn't represcribe steriods after the initial lot was that it would turn him into a moon-face. Um ... that kinda happened anyway, so I guess better on than off). The also prepared to aspirate his lung, which they did on Monday.
Here's how it went: xray Friday - 'There's a little fluid in your right lung.'
Ultrasound Monday morning - 'Wow. There's like, a litre of fluid in there.'
Aspiration Monday afternoon - 'Two point six litres of fluid!'
Apparently it looks like blackcurrant juice. I walked past the juice aisle at the supermarket yesterday with my eyes averted. *grin*
I've been visiting him every day, and his eyes have been getting better every day. He's now back to reading voraciously, and able to eat again, as the swelling in his throat has also lessened. He's pushing pretty hard to get his lymph node excision done while he's still in hospital, and it's looking relatively likely. The sooner they get onto that, the sooner he can start chemo.
Looks like he'll be there until at least the end of the week. But that's a good outcome, as he's determined not to go home only 90% better.
As for me? Well, work is going great, I've just found out that I'm a MANAGER (not sure how that happened!), and get all sorts of snazzy things like business cards, guaranteed work for the next three years or so (at least, Shaft is busy making plans involving me in the three-year business strategy), brand new shelving etc. Sweeeet :) I'll totally push for a pay rise during performance reviews in October, because while I'm being paid extraordinarily well for an administrator, well, it's not amazing for a manager. And by October they'll know for sure how brilliant I am. *is modest*
Head is relatively behaved. Dealing with an interesting new sympton I call 'jelly-legs'. Makes it hard to walk, nearly impossible to drive. Very odd, but only happened twice so far.
Still having anger issues. Is that kinda obvious from the 2HC column? Yeah, I thought it might be.
Ben did the Great Computer Rejig of 2006 on Monday - I now have a new harddrive *pets Sumomo*, while the DVD writer has been put into his computer, and the DVD/CD reader into mine. Eventually Alucard will be mothballed, once we've finished cannibalising everything we want off it.
Ooh - speaking of Alucard, we watched the first episode of the new
Hellsing OVA - DAMN, but it's good. Recommended - find the fansub and leech, my friends, leech!
