Yesterday I worked a long day, thus no LJ etc.
However, during my afternoon shift on the Welcome desk/Reception Area an elderly couple asked me to phone for a taxi for them. We do have a courtesy phone, but these people were in their late 80's and the man had just had surgery on his cataract ... so no worries. It was just gone 4pm and the main Exeter company couldn't come till 8pm, even with me pushing. I then tried 5 other companies to either have no replies, or similar timings ... so i phoned back the first company and booked it. Apologies to the couple, even though they were standing near me the whole time so realised I was really trying. So I sent them towards the restaraunt so they could at least eat/drink/relax a bit.
However about 10 mins later they came back the other way ... a lady who was bringing someone in for an appointment had heard my "battle" and had organised her relative and then offered to give this couple a lift home as it was only just over a mile away.
So, as I said, there are some lovely people in the world ... I just hope that if ever she needs help then someone will be there for her as well.
I am back in work later this afternoon ... and it is gone colder, so I shall take in layers as getting cold is not the nicest of things, is it?
Before I go to try and get some photos posted ...
21 - Coin Week: Have you ever, or do you still, collect coins? With the move to cashless payments, do you handle coins much these days? Do you have a jar full of useless coins stashed away somewhere?
Dad loved them, so he had a pot full ... but Nick asked for those (I dare say he has sold them though), although I have the pot they were in that Dad had made when he was at school, so much more important for me. He actually had some mint coins in folders that he actually gave to me a couple of years before Mum died, so yes, I have those.
22 - Earth Day: this is the 53rd Earth Day. What one thing do you think every citizen of Earth should pledge to do to save our planet?
Not dropping litter
23 - World Book Night: World Book Night aims to change the way adults view reading by encouraging them to take the time to read during the night, when they have more time. Do you do most of your reading during the day or at night? Do you wish you had more time to read during the day? What are the main pros and cons of doing most of your reading at night?
I always read in bed ... even if already tired (mostly now with a Kindle on a "warm" light)
When in clinic I read if there is a gap ... but Mum would shoot me if I sat around reading during the day! If I am feeling tired I will sit and read something, and if at home, after my midday meal I do read while having a cuppa after the meal.
Right, lets get on
