My So-Called Clutter

I wrote the following poem in response to the Care2 article "What Your Clutter Says About You" by Shubhra Krishan.

My So-Called Clutter by Coz McSea © 2013

No packed basement
Only because I have no basement.
Doesn’t mean I don’t hold
A Sentimental value for the items
That remind me of events with
People I love.

Yes I have a crowded linen closet.
So does this make me
A Creative person
Who closes a door on clutter
In order to focus on
The Ideas in my thoughts?

I place items I prefer
To remain unbroken
On my dining room table
On the days the housekeeper comes.
The items are sometimes food,
Like the butter and sugar,
So they don’t get contaminated
With cleaners I don’t want to consume.

No overflowing bedside table.
So does this mean I do not have
A curious and bright personality.
No overworked mind here.
Yes, I am a lover of ideas and information.
It goes when I go.
It all goes when I go.

definition, death, clutter
