three birthdays in late april
fairly boring, i suppose. all i need is something for the last saturday in april and i won't have a free weekend in april. that's pretty exciting.
april 2 will be the 6-month anniversary of Megan and I. of course, this is where most people would make some fruitless attempt at finding the right words for such a wonderful thing. i'll spare you the poetry.
i really need to get back to writing poetry regularly again. i've written a couple of chunks here and there. most of that has turned out extremely well, tho. maybe mood should govern it after all.
i updated my site significantly last week. i think you'll find that amusing. after a stangant period of neglect, i recieved an email about it from someone correcting their links on the page. that inspired me to start working on it again... knowing that someone was going to it.
i recently purchased the Alter Bridge CD. for those of you who aren't familiar w/ the band, it's the 3 ex-Creed members w/ a new lead singer (who is far batter than the self-obsessed pretty boy, Scott Stapp). that was an excellent investment. the $15 was a toss up between that and The Matrix Reloaded (which would complete my trilogy). i am pleased.
Megan purchased the new Lifehouse CD (self-titled). i was disappointed, but i also judged it a little too quickly. when i had time to savor the songs, they became a little better. i'm pretty sure they have a new bassist. unfortunately, the band has given up a lot of its personality. the instrumental dimension is all but lost and Jason Wade seems to have pulled a Chris Cornell on this one. this would be more appropiately acreditted Jason Wade, rather than Lifehouse. but that wouldn't be such a bad thing. at least he didn't turn into Spotlight Stapp.
lately my tastes in music have fanned out. i'm exploring oldies, blues, jazz, classical, classic rock, folk rock, ect. i'm even re-discovering my semi-pop and disco-era tastes to some degree. it's quite exciting. at the moment, i'm listening to almost as much classical as i do rock. it was exciting to watch Disney's Fantasia again. it's sad to the see the world go to anime. i want my children to enjoy the classics... Woody Woodpecker, Bugs Bunny, Roadrunner, Pink Panther... ah, what a tragedy to see the Simpsons and Anime taking over. i'm determined to track down DVDs of as many of the classics as possible and save them. when the world turns Japanese, i'm gonna sit in my house and enjoy a good episode of Tom & Jerry or Rocky & Bullwinkle. save the classics!
