A rundown of the first day of Christmas, so far:
1) My friend E. (from work) loaned us her car. It runs nicely, but she doesn't have a license (the car is a legacy from her adulturous ex-husband who left her). We will be using the car, and helping her to get licensed, over the next year, most probably.
2) As a result, we were able to attend the very end of Christmas Eve services (who was annointed with the oil of gladness? ME!).
3)Which means we also got to do midnight Liturgy. This is a new thing in our parish, initiated by Metropolitan Jonah, but since he wasn't here this year, we got the usual "quick-and-dirty" Divine Liturgy. We were home at around 2, which was nice.
4)Santa Claus came. I got another Star Wars Transformer (Obi-Wan Kenobi), a snow globe, a DVD copy of Beauty and the Beast (one of my all-time favorite movies, the last one my godfather ever saw), and a lot of things to fiddle with. My parents got me a Kindle, which was a surprise and a bit puzzling (I am very much a paper book person - I collect illustrated books, for Pete's sake).
We (collectively) got a glass scale and an engraved ornament commemorating our marriage.
5) We napped.
6) I am making cranberry sauce for tonight's festivities at
nehesi's family's house. I loved the gathering last year - it reminds me so of my T. relatives' Christmas Eve gathering - and I'm sure to love it again this year.
More on days 2-12 (and the rest of today) as they come.
Merry Christmas! Christ is born!
