I can just imagine the Cub fans when Starlin Castro steps foot on the grass at Wrigley Field. I hope the kid can survive that.

I heard rumblings and rumors all day (before game time) that the Cubs had called up Starlin Castro to play shortstop and that Ryan Theriot was being moved over to second base.

It didn't make any sense to me at all. Shortstop wasn't the position where the Cubs needed help and second base was pretty solid also. The problems in the lineup were at third base where Aramis Ramirez is neither hitting (batting .153 up to date - 5/8/10) nor is he fielding great (5 errors). He's trying too hard at the plate and he is too proud or too stupid to go to the hitting coach to try to get some help. Something needs to be done to get him back to hitting like everyone in baseball knows that he is capable of doing.

To accommodate Castro's call-up, the Cubs sent INF Chad Tracy to AAA Iowa. I thought Tracy did a decent job as a back-up infielder.

I saw Castro on TV and he looks like a teenager!!! I know he's only 20 years old, but he looks MUCH younger.

I do hope all works out for Starlin in the majors and that he's a major producer and dazzles his teammates.

Cubs call up top prospect SS Starlin Castro

It was definitely a defensive move, although I think I would have held onto Tracy and sent Ramirez down to the minors. LOL like that's going to happen.
