The problem with that is, there are many cases of people, usually men, murdering their current or former romantic partners, and often their children, because of their "if I can't have you, nobody can," or "I won't allow you to leave me" feelings. That obsessive possessiveness is precisely what "love potions" bring about. At least on the TV show Salem they admitted that "love spells" don't create real love, just obsession, and that there could be a downside to that.
Oh, no, I figured you were just putting into words the mindset of the books. I didn't think you really believed that. I was just pointing out--again--the idiocy of the way the books make "love potions" seem harmless and fun.
There is also an old Twilight Zone episode where a man gets a potion that turns the object of his desire into a women totally devoted to him. Very quickly he comes to hate it.
Once again something Snape taught Harry saves the day.
