Ride Time

Jun 23, 2006 08:07

Wednesday I skipped out of work early to go to training. Due to the weather we were having the Battalion Chief decided there would be no training. This was mainly due to the fact the the power was out at Station 1 and all of Waterford's municipal complex. Apparently Fire Station 2 was doing the dispatch for the Police and Fire services. Anywho, we were all given credit for the training we didn't get, but the condition was that we go man the out stations (2-5) just in case there was trouble associated with the weather. They were expecting down line calls, maybe even a storm related fire or two.

Living where I live, the closest station is Station 5. I headed down there, tossed my gear on Engine 5 and went inside. Nothing too eventful happened. Watched some TV, went over the truck so that I could be more familiar with it and where everything is on it, the power went out at 5 for a while, and we had one medical run. Not the action the Battalion Chief was expecting, but there is nothing wrong with a uneventful night.

I was at 5 from 7pm-10pm. Then I left, I have no clue if it stayed quiet or not though because I went to Ypsi after the ride time.
