So I come out of the CDU unit here at work and as I walk down the hallway I am talking with a security guard. Nothing special about the conversation, just small talk that most people get stuck in even if they try and avoid it.
As we are walking back towards the main building a cry a scream is heard. Clear as can be as it echos across the first floor. "It came from this way" I said followed by a motion to the left. "The "C" elevators sounds like". So we take off running towards the "C" elevators. Some others are already heading that direction. I am in the lead and as the 2 of us round the corner and I start to slip. My reason for starting to slip was because of a bloody mess on the floor. Turns out a woman waiting for the elevator to the 5'th floor started her labor and now the "bloody show" was all over the damn place. Gross...I have to disinfect and decontaminate my boots now.
The lesson learned, keep spare socks in my backpack for after a rare situation where I have to walk around w/o my shoes on. Also, even if it is an emergency don't run around a corner without looking.
