Finnick/Annie, The Reverse Hitch, teen, slight MJ spoilers trovia December 6 2012, 00:19:13 UTC
Well let's get this party started! I'm not much of a steamy writer, but I hope this will work for you anyway.

The Reverse Hitch

“This one’s called a Reverse Hitch,” Finnick said. His breath warm against the crook of her neck, Annie leaned back against his chest until she was tickled by the stubble on his cheek. His hands on hers, deftly leading her fingers through loops. “Look, you pull on the tag end like that… that’s where you have to be careful because it gets so tight… trim the end…”

He was kissing a spot next to her ear while he spoke, as if he didn’t have to look at their intertwined fingers at all - making her shudder and distracting her, but in a good way. She felt safe in his arms.

“You can use this one for anything at sea, or ashore, if you ever need a hook. Or say if you tie up a horse with a noose… or a person, if you tie up a person, in bed, I mean, if you…”

He’d started stumbling over the words, abruptly running out of air when he chased after them too fast - memories mixing with the present.

Annie found that her hand had wrapped around his fingers, stopping him from trying to finish the loop. His hands were much bigger and stronger than hers, of course.

Hers weren’t trembling, though.

“That’s too difficult a knot,” she said. “Show me another?”

“Okay,” Finnick breathed against her neck, sounding lost.

Stubble was scratching her again. He didn’t shave a lot when he came home. She took care to show him that it was his choice to make what to do with his face, and a minor one too.

His fingers were working again, swiftly, unfastening the rope.

She made sure to not let them go.

For a minute there, when I realized what was happening (oh, Finnick!), I couldn't breathe. Thank you for this. ♥

(Hmm. I may have to replace my Armie=Finnick icons with Sam=Finnick, once of these days.)

Yay! You're welcome. I'll try to write the one with more sex and less traumatic aftershocks. If I'm even capable of that. ;)

I have no idea who the actor on your icon is, but I do love all the captions. Heh.

*momentarily distracted by Anna Wu*

The actor is Armie Hammer, aka the Finnick in my head.

YAY ANNA!

Interesting! The image of Finnick in my head is a little more stereotypical, kinda like this guy but with a different hair color, obviously. His name is apparently Travis Fimmel.

God, this is AMAZING. I don't know what you're talking about with this, "I'm losing my English," crap. This was gorgeous and subtle and I felt like the reverse hitch was in my HEART.

All the little double meanings going on here are just wonderful, such as the way she says that the knot is too difficult, which of course really means something else. And then there's the way you express so much about their interdependence through the movement of their hands, which in the narrative is about touching each other and the rope, but really is all about how they obviously support and guide one another through emotional storms - each being each other's anchor when the other needs it and they are able to be so.

Also, it's just very sensual and in a really sweet, quiet way that shouldn't exactly be acted upon because the timing would be spectacularly wrong, full of loving sexual tension. I don't know how you managed to straddle the line between sexiness and trauma and not have me feel terrible for having crossed those lines. Do you know what I even mean here?

I could totally see falling for that pairing, even though I don't know who they are.

I don't know what you're talking about with this, "I'm losing my English," crap.

That's because you haven't been looking into my head while I was staring at expressions and wondering what language any given idiom even belonged to. ;)

Thank you, though! You have the uncanny ability of picking up everything I try to put into a ficlet and cheering me up tremendously with it. See how Finnick/Annie remind me of us? :) Blithely ignoring the part where you're actually a mentally stable person of sound health. Unlike Finnick, Annie, or me. ;)

They are a very interdependent couple and that makes them so interesting to me. Usually established happy couples are so boring because nothing mean and entertaining ever happens to them (thinking of Zoe/Wash, for example), but these two are so fragile and you sort of always end up worried that everything will just start falling apart and it will be sad. It's a fun kind of tension.

And like always with those two, I'm starting to miss you more immediately. *hugs*

Well if you fell for that pairing, you would be in trouble because then you would end up addicted to sabaceanbabe's F/A fic like me, and no work would ever get done anymore. ;) On the other hand, I could make you write a Haymitch/Finnick/Annie fic... huh. I wonder why nobody seems to have done that yet.
