This week's TVD being the most controversial, my faithful readers are wondering where the hell I've been. First of all I've been feeling a little - unwell and second, LJ nearly killed me. Changing layouts its soooooo difficult! I was ready to pull my hair out at the damn system. Anyways, back on point..TVD. Well, well. Enough drama to make the Glee characters blush. So lets get down to it.
The Good
Bonnie - As expected I'm starting with Bonnie. Well, cz she's caused a stir in more than one quarter of the fandom. This week - she to many crossed over to the 'bitch' side. Ok. I'm gonna break this down. So many LAYERS, so little time. Altho, I don't necessarily AGREE with the way Bonnie been shown. I definitley understand and sympathise with it. Bonnie too has become a real 3D character after this episode. Kat pulled in a stellar perfomance overpowering pretty much every actor this episode to show the consequences of Bonnie's decisions will bring. When I first watched the episode I was like WTF?! Where's my Bonnie? The sweet Bonnie friend I had loved seemed to have evaporated. Ok, I admit I found it hard to believe as to Bonnie being such a bad friend. But...when I thought about Bonnie's decision, as to what she was doing..from her pov it made sense. Bonnie isn't a bad friend..actually she's pretty damn good one still. From this & 1x20 we've been dropped hints about Bonnie's inherited legacy and destiny which Bonnie has realised too. Being a Bennett witch means she has to choose some form of loyalty to someone or some ppl. Here Bonnie chooses to protect the ppl she cares and loves namely, her friend Caroline and the other townsppl. She realises that she can question the vampires authority - who are lets face it monsters in situations of power. Fucking girl power. And I love it.
At least Bonnie is concious of her decision and feels guilty..she's still human ppl. Flawed but human. But it still begs the question of the writer's dancing a fine line with her..
Donnie/Bamon You know what I'm talking about. Don't pretend that you still don't drool when u think about the scene. Completly outclassed Delena (whose 'epic chemistery' was so blah Elena faded into insignificance'). I kept repeating the words 'angry sex,' 'angry sex' each time they talked to each other. And for those with any taste..their lines & the delievery were perfection. I mean really writer? You thought Delena could outsizzle, outsex the snarkiness of Donnie? Get real. There has to be SOMETHING there for the TVD fandom to be split into NOT 2 BUT THREE main groups after a few scenes. Donnie delievered the best lines of the night..the characters so in character it hurt to watch Damon being 'in love' afterwards. I mean, only Damon could be a bitch about trust issues with a Bennett witch, right? and only Bonnie can hit Damon's 'honey' bullseye.
Janna - It was Jeremy's finest moment to be needed and to comfort Anna. Excuse me. THEIR moment.
Jeremy - What Jer did was inevitable. He BLEW up at Elena. What a shocker. Wayyyyy overdue if you ask me. I was furious with Jeremy AT Elena. It wasn't her right..her decision. SHE should of all ppl understand, that pain and memories make us the ppl we are - it teaches us. How could she take away memories of the fact..that even Vikki had died, she'd loved him?
He was certainly tested with the loyalty, lies and legacy. Being the teenager that he is, he thinks love is the answer, he thinks eternal vampire love is the answer. Go figure.
Stelena Showed that Elena is less dull, and the fact well DE are jus an obstacle they will overcome. I wish there had been more scenes..
Stefan And everyone thought he'd gone back to being Damon's yin. Oooh Damon tread carefully cz it seems that Stefan's beast hasn't been tamed esp. when it comes to fighting for his girl.. *fangirl squeal*
The Bad
Isobel - Ok. I get it that the episode is called Isobel but c'mon. This was ridiculous. Ok. These are the reasons she was here. Tell Elena that Damon was in love with her - it seemed her prurpose this episode. If I had been Delena a fan, I would've gone running, seriously. I prefer it when SHIP moments have subtlety rather than sledgehammers. She told us that John was her father - Yawn. She wanted some form of closure with Ric - none. She wanted the device - Wahayy! The reason she turned - none. You know what I'm so shocked about is that the actress agreed to play this role. I've heard she's been in some good stuff..so why in God's name would she want to play a crappy mother and vampire who tries too hard? I can only imagine the pay was good.
Elena - Eugh. Seriously. She was so blah. Came face-to-face with her bio mum who made some pretty blunt comments about her and the cat had got her tongue? I get it that Isobel gave birth to her but..if I was in her place and Isobel had mentioned Damon's 'caring' more than once I would tell her to STFU.
Delena - As DD put it last week they breathed the same air. I was imagining through their scenes if sticking forks into my eyes would less painful *barf* I'm afair person, give me a reason and I swear I'll stick them into the 'Good' section. I challenge you.
Damon - Romeo seems to have wandered in. Nope wait THAT's Damon. No really. If that's what love does to you, I don't wonna EVER be in love. Seriously. The guy is such a deadbeat. Coming to life only around Bonnie it seems. I hate you writers. For turning Damon into Edward Cullen.
The Pointless
Alaric - Hmm. I have a feeling Alaric was overused in this episode. Slightly misplaced as tho he didn't quite know what to do with himself..His lack of any sort of characteristics that don't include his macho-weilding-wifehunting skills is wearing thin. I mean the guy practically LIVES in the school jus to do research blah blah. Not only that..we have yet to see him to take Jeanna on a date. I think he treats her worse than Logan. Having said that..I enjoyed his Dalaric interactions. The Delena fans were all over the 2nd one claiming that Elena is Damon's humanity but they forget that Alaric saw Damon fight tooth N nail for STEFAN to get him out of Pearl's house. The dead-wife routine was cringe-worthy until he lay himself vulnerable to Isobel ~ a man broken. Quite sad tbh, I was sorta touched. Expect LOADS of drinking in the future from the new my-ex-dumped-my-ass-and-I-still-love-her of the town and hopefully some development.
Jonathan - I never thought t would come to this but John was also suffering bcz of the fact the writers lack balls. Overused, in some situations and underused in others. It was a mess. He loved Isobel and Isobel had loved him whatever she claimed, I would've preferred the rough-makeout scene with John&Isobel. I have a feeling it would've been sooo much hotter not to mention unexpected. And c'mon David Anders is hot - he should get at least ONE gal that wants to makeout with him? Right? I think that JP has got the writers in mind control on that one.
I liked tho, we got Jer&John to reveal the Gilbert family legacy, he seemed more..human in a weird way. Like he wasn't high and mighty anymore but in a strange twist of fate, he had to accept the inbred hatred of vampires cemented by the evilness he'd seen (and I incl. that pathetic excuse of a sex party in that). I jus wish, wish, he had told us more! Everyone knows Jeanna is useless in that dept. (actually she IS useless..). Such wasted potential.
