Anime is a Niche; Deal with It
America tries to be like Japan
And it just fail miserably...
The next anime-manga Hollywood live action movie is going to bomb itself: Speed Racer and Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within and more of those are being adapt into live action movie. So much for
ADV's Live Action Evangelion Movie, when they are closed for business (shooting the self in the foot, what a bright idea...). American distributor tries to break the niche (subculture) into mainstream, when it's already part of the culture as a subculture market. No need to explain why there are growing numbers of fans showing up at the Anime convention each year...
Whether it be anime or scifi... However, Japan's Anime-Manga is basically America's Scifi niche with Star Trek, Star Wars, Stargate SG-1/A; Battlestar Galattica (that's more than live action)... etc. I just don't get why these companies seems to have eliminated their own market and that already exist out there; then tries to be something they are not. Did Clark Kent seems to have forgotten his own identity of being Superman? Aizen Sousuke knows himself very well...
Well brace for the impact; Tokyo Pop is going down too sooner or later...
