50 Sentences-Epsilon Table
Notes: I've given Yami a corporeal body in this, that develops sometime after Duelist Kingdom or Battle City, and I probably have some things crossed with the anime. It's been a long time since I read/watched YGO.
1. Motion
The wheels of fate were put into motion the day his grandfather set the Sennen puzzle pieces into his hands…he just didn’t know it yet.
2. Cool
No one would expect Yami’s slightly tanner hands to be cool, but the fire in his spirit from his hot desert country didn’t reach his palms as they gently caressed Yugi’s neck.
3. Young
Most people would say that they were too young to have found their soulmates, their perfect counterpart, but with Yami’s thousand years of solitude included, it looks that they stand a fair fight.
4. Last
Because of Yugi’s innocence, his friends thought that he would be the last to discover the nature, and hardships, of love; but once Yami came into his life he fell fast and without regret.
5. Wrong
It was difficult for Yami to give in; he wanted to protect Yugi from himself, but their souls were so tangled that he knew no one else could ever come close to untying them.
6. Gentle
When they lay in bed at night, Yami is the one with soft touches and murmuring tones; Yugi feels their time together ticking away and forcefully draws his partner to him.
7. One
They were two halves of a whole, twins of the same spirit, and the fact that they loved the one made up of everything they went without was undeniably so.

A thousand years of being alone in darkness, a thousand grains of sand in the ocean, he’d endure it all again if his face and his light would be waiting when he woke.

Their time together seems like a crazy blur, suspended and hazy, now that he’s alone and it slows to excruciating seconds while the sun sets in his window.

Yami was turning toward that portal of light, his royal adornments materializing, and he would have given anything for his voice to shout out and make it right.

It didn’t happen overnight, but Yugi found himself surrounded by friends, laughter, an unconditionally loving partner, and waited to wake up from the dream of a lonely friendless high schooler.

Yugi held all the cards in their relationship because Yami would do anything he asked, and both of them knew it.
15. Hold
Yugi was trembling, wide-eyed and flushed, eyes glittering with wavering tears; he said, “I just need you to hold me for a while, so I’ll know you’re really here.”

He turned toward him, the colors of his hair and the tan of his skin illuminated in the slanting windowed moonlight within the nighttime of the empty living room, his arms and his face lined with need.

He had spent countless hours trying to picture what the person who would solve the puzzle would be like, and in the end he didn’t even come close to the perfection that did.

Yami stretches out on Yugi’s bed and watches him do his homework; and though he blushes, unused to being so focused upon, he’s reassured when he feels those eyes upon him.

It takes Yugi a little while to wake up in the morning, as the warm layers of their soul rooms fall away, leaving him to distinguish reality’s accelerating numbers by himself.

The first picture he had taken of the two of them, they’re sitting together at a concrete table in warm autumn sunlight; he’s smiling shyly at the camera, but Yami’s gazing to the side, looking at him as though the world was composed solely of his presence.

“Stupid, stupid, stupid,” he curses at himself hopelessly as he realizes the puzzle box is empty, and that his eight year task ends like this.
22. Mad
“I can’t believe you did that…I can’t trust you anymore,” Yugi had told him at Duelist’s Kingdom, and he could do nothing but take his hand and beg for another chance to make it right.
23. Child
Yami’s naivety about the modern day, his astonishment at things commonplace to the rest of the Japanese population, makes Yugi laugh as he guides his hands to teach him how.
24. Now
“Now,” Yugi murmurs heavily as Yami kisses him against the front door, as they stumble up the stairs, as they fall backwards onto his bed, as Yami fumbles with his collar to set it free.
25. Shadow
Yami struggles with feeling as though he’s tainting Yugi, until Yugi reminds him that light shines brighter, becomes more beautiful when it coexists with shadows.
26. Goodbye
He almost walked through the portal to return to his old life, his past kingdom, but he just couldn’t say goodbye.
27. Hide
They didn’t tell anyone about the true nature of their relationship for a long time; they’d needed to take time to discover for themselves what completeness felt like.
28. Fortune
Everything that had started when Yugi was given the puzzle was nothing but a chain of blessed events.
29. Safe
Yami curls against Yugi at night and knows that he’s not alone anymore; Yugi feels his arm tighten around his waist and thinks the same thing.

It was strange to see Yami and not feel him, just a slight cool breeze where he touched Yugi’s skin, but the first time Yugi retreated into his soul room, Yami had brushed his fingers against his cheek, and Yugi felt more than just skin in the touch.

“I don’t understand these funny characters, aibou,” Yami told him, studying the book with a wary eye; Yugi took it from him, turned it right-side up, and told him that there were pictures in the characters, he just needed to look a little harder.
32. Eye
When he was Pharaoh, Yami had everything emblazoned with eyes, because he had felt lost and needed a way to see beyond his position; he tapped the eye on the puzzle lightly, closed his eyes, said a prayer, and blindly shattered it.
33. Never
“I’ve never kissed anyone before, Yami,” Yugi told him, blushing, biting his lip and gazing shyly across the room to where he was sitting at the desk; he strode toward him, two quick steps, before he cupped his faced and told him, grinning, “Never say never.”

Yugi pauses in his reading, and listens to Yami’s faint singing in the shower, foreign musical notes making him think of dry desert winds and sunset.
35. Sudden
He didn’t mean for it to happen, to press Yugi down into the couch and entangle himself in his limbs before he really understood how he felt, but he looked so sad sitting alone that his love overwhelmed him.
36. Stop
All throughout the final duel, he wanted to make it stop, fought the fantasy of it, but he wasn’t a quitter and neither was Yugi.
37. Time
For years after he left, it seemed like their time together had been a mere dream, the man and the butterfly, the glorious and the real.

Nobody knows about the baths they take together in the afternoon, where Yugi washes his hair and splashes him with foamy water, and they don’t intend to tell anyone.

He waits for his aibou to wake up in the hospital, his hands bandaged from the burns, and is torn between needing to protect him from the dangers the Sennen items have brought upon him, and needing for him to look at him with eyes absent of longing.
40. History
For a pair where one couldn’t remember his past, and the other who didn’t really care to remember his, they had a bright future together.
41. Power
He could control the deepest realm of shadows, had once held reign over one of the most culturally rich countries in history, but he was powerless under that gaze.
42. Bother
When Yugi asked him if he could bother him, his posture shy, Yami folded the covers back and held his arms open, because he didn’t mind at all.
43. God
Neither of them worshipped a god in particular, but the night before their last duel, they were both on their knees praying.
44. Wall
It had been hard to get him to open up at first; so many years alone had made some walls hard to break.

Yami pulled Yugi over by the sash of his fluffy white bathrobe, sliding it off one of his shoulders agonizingly slowly, revealing a stretch of pale, glistening skin fresh from the bath…Yugi naked was an offering he couldn’t refuse.

They loaded up the back of Yugi’s creaky old station wagon with their bags, Yugi reminded Yami which pedal was the brake and which was the gas, and then they were on their way.

When Yami was first released from his puzzle chamber, he was so enamored with his light that he swore to wreak chaos upon anyone who had ever harmed him; it took him a couple of soul-banishings for the fury to lessen.

At night, asleep, bathed in dim lamplight that made him glow, Yami stroked Yugi’s hair and thought that there could be no jewel more precious than him.

All throughout the day, Yugi craved Yami; he’d be getting some lunch with his buddies, anxiously waiting out the last bell, and all he wanted was to go home and embrace his other.
