Leon Orcot was dreaming. Not of one of the women gazing with a vapid stare from the posters in his bedroom, but of sharp eyes, long fingers, and vivid red lips speaking poison behind a veil of smoke.
“Holy shit.” He gasped to himself as he woke up, astonished. He tugged on his jeans, tied his hair back and ran down the apartment stairs.
He had made it to Chinatown, out of breath and sweating, thinking, ‘Today’s the day I’ll tell him how I feel.’
“D!” He shouted, pulling open the pet shop’s doors to reveal an empty, abandoned room.
