I let one of my horses , Vera Rai (aka grey) go out to lease at another farm , went to check on  him 4 weeks later and he had dropped at least 150-200lbs!!! So I terminated the lease and brought him home asap. Well it seems ( Read more... )

It has been awhile..

Well , lets see...

They did an exam while i was with him and everything seems ok. he has a fever , raised temp and raised heart rate also hyperactive gut sounds. they did blood work and he is anemic , kidney enzymes and very high (so they are think middle stage kidney failure). they did and ultra sound and everything looked ok but they couldnt really see the kidneys well. soooo... they are gunna do a urine test to find out exactly what is wrong with his kidneys and he is on IVs getting 2 leters every hour , and pain killers , and now sedatives , he went a bit crazy after I left. If all goes well he will be home in 2-3 days...

Thank you for the myspace comment , and all of your concern.... you have always been helpful when my kids are sick

You're welcome :( I'm sorry we haven't talked more, lately...I really do plan on visiting you at work, or visiting LEsty, one day! -And Rebel, too, of course :)

So, they think the kidney failure can be reversed, then? Or, are hopeful it can be, right?
Wow. sheesh. You'r elucky you have access to the state hosp, the way you do, you really are. Well, Rebel is, anyway.
Could he have kidney stones that are blocking him up, maybe? I only ask b/c I jsut went thru this (vaguely) with a rat/and had a dog that got bladder stones, and those were their symptoms, as well.

We are pray that it can be reversed. We should know in the morning. since they think it is middle stage he has a 50/50 chance. they think it could be parasite related due to the fact that two of my new neighbors horses were put down due to bad parasites. all of my horses are up-to-date on de-worming , but they said it still could be. we shall see....

*hugs*
I hate that you are going through this and I hate that your little boy is going through all this, and especially at his young age. I will be thinking of him and sending all my thoughts and strength.

Upon reading your other comments above, they thought Minion's illness was due to worms too which it wasnt. Have they done blood tests? What are the results?
