Patersden

A slightly belated Happy Father's Day, or Patersden, to everyone who celebrates it. I hope you all had a wonderful day, however you spent it. I was fortunate enough to talk to my own father and father-in-law on the day in question (Father's Day is the same in Cohdopia as in the US, though we celebrate Mother's Day in March, on the birthday of ( Read more... )

Being able to run around your father's store when you were a kid must have been fun.

Did you have a favorite department?

You're a natural diplomat, someone who finds a way to relate to mostly everyone - at your job and at home. I admire that a lot.

It was fun, yes. And though, as a child, I was rather shy around my peers, dealing with the customers gave me confidence.

A favorite department? I liked the stationary and office supplies. I've always been fond of such things. I used to play with the desk sets and imagine having an office of my own. Which of course I do, today.

Thank you, Mr. Ken. That's kind of you. You seem to be able to get along with everyone. I'm sure you'd make a good diplomat, too. Did you always want to work in the circus?

It's hard for me to imagine you being shy, Mr. Palaeno.

I think I would have liked the hardware department. When I was a kid, I used to like to play with tools. I liked to see how things worked, I guess.

It's funny, when my brother and I came to the circus, it seemed like something that would happen to kids in a book or a movie. It didn't feel real at first. But it wasn't the circus performance that made it real, it was the circus family. Even though I loved performing, that was always my favorite part.

Oh yes, when I first went to school, I was a quiet child. I had a hard time relating to others at first, as I was a bit different, but working in the store helped me.

Yes, I suppose joining the circus is something that seems to happen in fiction much more than in real life, but fiction is based on truth, so I'm not surprised it does happen in real life, too. I'm so glad you enjoyed it there! It does sound like a fun and exciting way of life.

Mr. Ken, I hope this isn't too forward of me, but I read about your case--not out of suspicion, it's simply that as Ambassador, it's necessary for me to familiarize myself with those I talk to.

I know that you've had some family difficulties in the past, and it must be hard for you at this time of year. My condolences. If you think a visit might be cheering, I'd be happy to come to visit you in person at the prison and bring you some things.

I'm sorry it's taken me a while to reply. At first I didn't know what to say. Really, I knew what I wanted to say, but not how to say it.

So I'll just say thank you. I know you're busy, but if you'd really like to visit, I'd enjoy that very much.

You're a very kind man, Mr. Ambassador. Thank you.

That's quite all right. Always feel free to take as long as you like to reply.

You're very welcome. I know that visits are good for morale, and I have been meaning to stop by the prison for reasons of goodwill. So I'll see you soon. I have something to show you!
