I am a master procrastinator. I come by it honestly - I hail from a long line of MPs.
In the past few years, I've been actively fighting my natural instincts. Sometimes I win, sometimes I lose.
Today, I totally won.
We've been talking about getting Robin's last name legally changed for years. His mother just randomly started using Frank's last name with the kids one year. She never bothered with the legal stuff.
Well, to get a passport, the U.S. Department of State requires the passport to be issued in the name on your birth certificate, unless you have another legal paper (such as a marriage certificate or a legal name change).
I got a wild hair and decided today was the day to get this process started for him. Robin was off work and we just had to go to our local courthouse, which is literally less than a mile from our apartment.
Amazingly, we were in and out of there in less than a half-hour. The clerk was very friendly -and- helpful, (!) Fees were paid, papers were stamped and he now has a hearing date.
Woot.
