(no subject)
Long time no post. To re-cap last week or so:
Went camping with Al
infinityn1hour last week. Was fun, except for the sleeping part, which I got almost none of, due to:
1. Being a really, really light sleeper and hearing every little movement by forest animals in the night
2. A really, really crap air mattress that, whilst on it, still felt like you were on the hard ground, even with a duvet underneath it, as well as the sleeping bag.
Even the drinking of much beer & wine didn't help with the sleeping. But besides not sleeping, had a good time. At the campsite at Warren Natl Park there were two camp hosts, Richard and Margaret. They're a couple in their 70s and very good hosts. Didn't bother us at all but were quite helpful and Margaret even gave me a hug and kiss when we left! Told us we were the best campers they'd met.
Last night went to Mel's combined going away/birthday party, which was loads of fun. Saw lots of old friends, and made some new ones, too. Sad to see Mel go to Sydney, though. Hope she comes back soon to visit.
Seemed like everyone at the party (even Andre may be going, due to his new girly, Leigh!) is going to the Pixies at Blackjack. Can't wait, only 10 days away! We left the party about 2, walking into the heart of Northbridge to catch a cab. Walked by loads of drunks and drugged up people. Even though I was with Al, we were still a bit careful where we walked. When we got to the cab stand in front of Rosies about 2:30, there were about 100+ people there, ridiculous. So we walked past it and finally caught one down the road. We guessed the cabbie didn't want to deal with the (worse off than us) drunks at the stand. We were quite thankful for that :) But I hate the fact that Northbridge is impossible to get a cab home from. Good thing we hardly ever go there.
Due to my latest timewaster line rider which Al pointed out to me the other night, I couldn't sleep as everytime I closed my eyes the little guy and his sled falling through the air appeared in my vision. Freaky. So after getting to sleep around 4:30, I was only to be awoken at 8:20 by :
1. the phone ringing - it was my mother calling from Boston but this was ok as I had to get up anyway to pick up Xuxu at Al's folks, who watched her last night when we were at the party.
After catching two busses to Subi to pick up Xuxu we came home and, after a 1/2 hour nana nap, I took Xuxu swimming to the new pool in Vic Park. Last year Xuxu couldn't pass level 2 in her swimming at school, but today she excelled and swam 25 metres by herself in the 50 metre lap pool. I would've let her swim more in that pool, but I had just done 4 laps in that pool and was too puffed to rescue her if I had to ;) I don't know what happened in the last few months, but she's finally learned to swim, hooray! I'm still a crap swimmer, however, only getting in 4 x 50m plus about 5 x 25m.
Must go make beef with sweet soy & sesame with egg noodles & steamed asparagus. Yum :-)
