A man enters the Nexus, clad in futuristic black armor, a small golden hexagon over his heart. A collapsible shotgun and pistol are slung across his waist and hip respectively, and a gleaming silver sword is strapped to his back alongside a long, rune-carved stick. The full-sized staff in his hand is topped with strange symbols that blaze a faint ( Read more... )

Alucard looks up from the almost worn out book he was reading. He looks like someone who just stepped out of the pages of a history book. He looks the apart of some kind of Eastern European nobility even if he's on the ghostly white side.

"Yes. And I often found myself at odds with the people I had decided to help. They were not easy to get along with or to trust fully."

Harry makes a face. "You couldn't trust them, or they couldn't trust you?" There is a fine line between the two, really.

"A little of both. They thought I would stab them in the back when I had no reason to and I thought they would do the same. They had reasons to turn on me that I would have understood," he replies. Sure he wouldn't have been happy but he would have got it.

He nods, unhappy face becoming even unhappier. "Man, I know how you feel. People I've hooked up with don't really trust me 'cuz they don't know me, and from what Shepard's told me, they're not all that trustworthy either. But they're the only ones who can... fix her."

Molly is leaning up against the wall, blue hair pushed back from her face. *

"Yeah. Yeah, I have. And ... no. That I haven't. But I didn't pick the right side. The right side picked me."

She smiles, but her eyes are downcast toward her blue checkered VANS.

*[[OOC: Molly split from Canon as of Proven Guilty, and it's only been a few months since that book that she's found the Nexus. Certain things are, as a result, still chafing a bit.]]

Harry is slightly startled, but happy to see his wayward apprentice. "Hey, grasshopper! It's good to see you."

She has no idea how good.

"Always good to see you too, boss," Molly says with a one-sided smile through her hair. "How's it goin'?"

She knows this Harry isn't her Harry, but the vibe is so similar she can't help but smile and be charmed.

Harry is suddenly self-conscious of his decidedly non-twenty-first century getup, and he fidgets a little. "Oh, you know... boy meets girl, boy falls for girl, girl takes boy back to her kickass future spaceship. Boy and girl take on eldritch abominations threatening the galaxy."

The Cat glances up, eying the staff in the man's hands and the various weapons strapped to his body. He's not the most heavily-armed person she's ever run across, but he's certainly in the running.

"Yes." She replies quietly. "Oh, yes I have."

Harry attempts a friendly sort of smile of greeting, but it mostly falls flat. "What did you do, if you don't mind my asking?"

She smiles crookedly. "I stuck around as long as my conscience would let me -- which wasn't long, after I started having my doubts about what I was into. Then I took my pay and got out while I could."

She shrugs one shoulder. "That's a luxury a mercenary can afford. Harder when you're fighting for more than the money."

Ouch. Doesn't that hit home. "Yeah," he replies quietly. "It is."

"The organization I've fallen in with... something's not right about them. I can't put my finger on it. But my girlfriend... they're the only ones who can help her."

"If there is one thing I have ever been sure of, it is what side I am on," the Leanansidhe says from her chaise longue in the Nexus. Sitting at the foot of the chair are three large, mastiff-like dogs, their eyes burning with a sort of faint, eldritch energy.

Lea's hellhounds.

She strokes one gently between the ears as she smiles at her godson - or, at least, one of the many versions of him running around in the Nexus. Her smile, with its pointed, dainty canine teeth, is at once pleasant and predatory.

"Even if I have done questionable things during my time on that side."

[OOC: Lea's post-Changes, but I will not be mentioning anything about the events of the book so as not to spoil the book for others.]

Harry's eyes narrow a little bit. "Hello, godmother." Okay, what angle is she working here of all places?

[[OOC: I've read Changes, so no need to spoiler-censor for me, but if you want to keep it up for any other Dresdenites who may pop in, please feel free to do so! Otherwise I'll edit the main post to warn for Changes spoilers too. :)]]

"Poo," Lea says, pouting just a little. "You don't see happy to see me, Harry. Why is that?"

OOC: Hee. I'd hate to spoil it for anyone else who hasn't read it, so we'll just keep the Changes spoilers out and away. :)

"Oh, you know," Harry says vaguely, still suspicious. It's exactly like her to drop in unannounced, naturally. But it's rarely ever for reasons that will make him happy. "All my debts are paid up. Social visit?"

A tall old man dressed all in black frowns over the question. While the only marks visible on his face are the lines of age, there is yet something of a battle-scarred veteran about him. "There's no good side to be on, in a war."

Harry's eyebrows scrunch up. "Well, no, that's... not really what I..." He sighs, a little frustrated with trying to articulate exactly what it is about Cerberus that pings his Bad Touch radar. "It matters why you're fighting, though. Doesn't it?"

evillurks April 22 2010, 11:19:50 UTC
"Certainly, as an individual. Why matters almost as much as how." He calmly watches the moment of frustration with a piercing, steady blue gaze.

"How? You mean like pistols at dawn as opposed to carpet-bombing civilians?" He's not even going to bring magic into the equation yet.

The gaze may be piercing, but Harry never looks anyone directly in the eyes. Soulgazing is... not pleasant, most times.
