A man enters the Nexus, clad in futuristic black armor, a small golden hexagon over his heart. A collapsible shotgun and pistol are slung across his waist and hip respectively, and a gleaming silver sword is strapped to his back alongside a long, rune-carved stick. The full-sized staff in his hand is topped with strange symbols that blaze a faint ( Read more... )

"If there is one thing I have ever been sure of, it is what side I am on," the Leanansidhe says from her chaise longue in the Nexus. Sitting at the foot of the chair are three large, mastiff-like dogs, their eyes burning with a sort of faint, eldritch energy.

Lea's hellhounds.

She strokes one gently between the ears as she smiles at her godson - or, at least, one of the many versions of him running around in the Nexus. Her smile, with its pointed, dainty canine teeth, is at once pleasant and predatory.

"Even if I have done questionable things during my time on that side."

[OOC: Lea's post-Changes, but I will not be mentioning anything about the events of the book so as not to spoil the book for others.]

Harry's eyes narrow a little bit. "Hello, godmother." Okay, what angle is she working here of all places?

[[OOC: I've read Changes, so no need to spoiler-censor for me, but if you want to keep it up for any other Dresdenites who may pop in, please feel free to do so! Otherwise I'll edit the main post to warn for Changes spoilers too. :)]]

"Poo," Lea says, pouting just a little. "You don't see happy to see me, Harry. Why is that?"

OOC: Hee. I'd hate to spoil it for anyone else who hasn't read it, so we'll just keep the Changes spoilers out and away. :)

"Oh, you know," Harry says vaguely, still suspicious. It's exactly like her to drop in unannounced, naturally. But it's rarely ever for reasons that will make him happy. "All my debts are paid up. Social visit?"

"Of course. Can a godmother not look in on her own godson merely to see that he is well? It is my right, do you not agree?" Go ahead Harry. Agree with her. You know you want to.

Kind of.

Maybe.

Probably not actually.

"I can't remember the last time you stopped by just to say hello," Harry says carefully. Yeah, he's not touching that with a twenty foot pole.

Lea just smiled her scary-alluring smile at Harry, all sharp, dainty canines and lush red lips. "Yes. I should be better about that. It's what your mother would want, I believe, for you and I to be close."

Harry looks down at the hellhounds. "Right. Close." Somehow he doubts his mother would've approved if he'd ended up that close.

"What did you have in mind?"

"Hrmm. I do not know. I believe I shall let you suggest something this time around. You never seem to like my suggestions, after all - no matter how much that may wound me." She knows he won't buy the pouty lips and the faux-dejected expression in her eyes, but she can't help but be herself.

Harry is not terribly enthusiastic about the idea. One, because it's Lea, and two, because making "suggestions" sounds like treading awfully close to making offers and deals. And he knows exactly what kind of trouble that can get him into.

"Now's not really a good time for me. You should really call first. Let me tidy up the... my quarters." Years have gone by since he's had an apartment and it's still habit to call his domicile as such.

"Ah Harry. You know we are not that fond of telephones." Besides, what was the fun in telephoning someone to tell them you were going to viist? It took away the element of surprise, and surprise was one of Lea's favorite elements, next to sensuality and terror. "Besides. We are family, after a fashion. Such formality is unnecessary. Do I bid thee to call me before you enter the Nevernever?" Ignore the fact that she usually manages to find him there, upon moments of his entering that realm.

Darn. And here Harry doesn't even have a telephone anymore. It would've been the perfect excuse to "miss" her calls. Oh well. He counts himself lucky that the Fae can't seem to track him down when he's off Earth.

"You're right. I've been so very rude. I won't do that again." Mostly because he rarely ventures into the Nevernever anymore, but she doesn't need to know that.

"La. I doubt it would kill you to keep in touch with me, you know. Rather, it's far more deadly when you deem it alright not to." Which was true. That's usually why she seemed all the more...hungry...whenever their paths crossed and Harry was in trouble.

Well, that was her reasoning anyway.

"Oh, I dunno. I seem to be doing fine so far." In fact, in his experience, his life only seems to get worse when the Fae are involved.
