Why is that so many brands' black bean soups seem to have corn as their major ingredient?

If that doesn't thrill you, what's your favorite guilty

The Doctor wrinkles his nose at the idea of black bean soup, but gives and answer anyway. "Perhaps because corn enhances the flavor. Either that or they needed something in the food, to fill out the soup."

You'll notice how he skips over the other question.

I could see it as an accent flavor, but black bean soup shouldn't mostly taste of corn. It's wrong!

"If it mostly tastes of corn, then you're right. Someone is doing the soup very wrong. It should taste like black beans."

Precisely! This is a wrong that should be righted!

"Guilty pleasure?" Certainly not going to get a xxx answer out of him, nope nope nope. "Now you've got me longing for a grilled cheese sandwich. So very undignified, but one can't help the tastes."

::Awww, but Schuldig wants to know about xxx!:: I understand the allure of undignified food. There's something so comforting and filling about a grilled cheese sandwich, ja?

I also have a major love of bacon, even if my heart supposedly won't thank me for it.

"Most such things repulse me, but yes, there's something about it, even with more common cheese. I'm not sure what it is." He smiles.

It reminds a lot of people of being a child. Does it do that for you?

Drink is a necessity! I feel that beer should be its own food group.

John looks over and admires Schu's style.

He has no idea what black bean soup is exactly, but the other question!

"A whirlwind, unforgettable week on the Lotus Nebula, participating in all 17 pleasures at once!" John closes his eyes and remembers it all! Damn, best.week.evah!

::smile:: All 17? I didn't know a number could be put on "all." Do tell.

::Given that he has a PINpoint, maybe he could even visit the Lotus Nebula.::

John nods vigoriously, and what's this another bottle of hypervodka in hand!

"Oh yeah! It's the slogan of place! The drawcard! It's on the holograms! Just think of the best place on Earth and times it by a million! It's always warm, the water's a bit of an aphrodiasiac, nudity's the norm! There's gambling, there's this champagne stuff, there's sexy aliens all over the place! Best bloody collection of guns and explosives and weapons anywhere! Hypervodka on tap!"

Then he gives a little sigh. "Alas, expensive as all shit!"

He twist the cap off the hypervodka. "Drink?"

Of course it's expensive as all shit. I guess I'll just have to get my guilty pleasures cheaper at home.

I'll have some.

Lillith frowned. "Never had black bean soup, but perhaps it's for the texture?" she suggested as she smoothed out her skirt.

"I guess my guilty pleasure is teasing my brother, he's always soooo serious." She grinned impishly.

It makes it taste strongly of corn, though.

I can't blame you: Teasing people is one of my favorite things.

She shook her head. "Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of black bean soup if you only taste the corn? Maybe the chef read the recipe wrong." The young lady then thought of something.

"Like Georik will always eat more then his fair share of the jams I make, so sometimes when he's not looking - I put something really sour on his bread." Lillith giggled, picturing her brother's face. "Or he has this hat that looks like a bandit's, always teased him when he wears it."

That's my thinking.

It's all in good fun, right?
