Shel herself, however, seems much less lively than usual, and not just in the sense that she's not freaking out about something for once. There sure are a lot of people in spandex around here. Fortunately the chubby little boy waddling around is just a little too young to appreciate it on a woman. "I'd say that's normal. You ignore what they say and go with your instincts or whatever truth you can dig up."

Which is kind of ironic, since Shel probably wouldn't even notice it being appreciated in this state. "What if you don't think they're lying until after it's done?"
