A low laying fog slips into the Nexus. Not the evil sort of fog that heralds the coming of the Silent Hill Universe, but instead a normal if tinged with magic mist, sort of a dark purple. From the mist approaches a man on foot

"They don't always. I know a place that has five."

Her expression is carefully neutral.

"Five? Really? Are they the chosen ones then?" he asks curiously.

[teena_chan]

"Yeah. There are six deities, but two of them have this sort of 'two sides, one coin' deal, so they share one."

[elementwizard]

"Huh. I guess that works better. Does the bad guy have a group too? You know... to kinda even it out?" He makes like a scale balancing with his hands as he says this.

Oh. Hay. Talking snake. Interesting. "But the stories never mention them." He can go with this. After how does he know if large snakes can talk or not? He's never seen one before.

"None that I've been told... at least as far as I can recall." He pauses, "Well... there are stories of the five champions... but they're more history that tale."

"'Cause part of bein' the chosen one is that y' can't never get sick at awkward times. Chosen implies fate, all that jazz."

"It's rather convenient, don't you think?" he asks.

"Darn right. 'Cause, like, yeah. Fated."

"Which isn't really fair for the rest of us... I mean, the Chosen One knows that they're going to be safe, and everyone else has to worry about getting killed."

"In my experience, he's only chosen by himself, and he's the only one because he's too bloody-minded to let anyone else take the risk."

Hey, Sylar doesn't get many chances to bitch about Peter Petrelli. It's fairly therapeutic, actually, if the man himself isn't around to skewer with pieces of glass.

"Or to admit that he's wrong."

"That's not really how the stories go by... usually there's all these prophecies and things like that."

Sylar has much good reasons for bitching about Peter.

"But yeah... they do seem to be attention hogs."

"I hear he's been convincing himself he's the object of that kind of thing," remarks Sylar icily. It's recent and fairly irritating news, brought to you by the talkability of people being slammed repeatedly into the ceiling.

"...You have no idea."

Alec shifts nervously at Sylar's tone of voice, and then he remembers that's armed and Sylar isn't and takes comfort in that. Anti-Violence Fields are just silly ideas.

"That sounds more like he's delusional or something like that. Has he been eating some funny herbs or mushrooms? My sister mentioned to me once that there are some that can do funny things to your head."
