A low laying fog slips into the Nexus. Not the evil sort of fog that heralds the coming of the Silent Hill Universe, but instead a normal if tinged with magic mist, sort of a dark purple. From the mist approaches a man on foot

"'Cause part of bein' the chosen one is that y' can't never get sick at awkward times. Chosen implies fate, all that jazz."

"It's rather convenient, don't you think?" he asks.

"Darn right. 'Cause, like, yeah. Fated."

"Which isn't really fair for the rest of us... I mean, the Chosen One knows that they're going to be safe, and everyone else has to worry about getting killed."

"They c'n always die after th' big-bad-evil is gone. An' they usually do. Epics go like that."

"Yeah... but that's heroic and everything. And they know it's coming. I mean... if you're just the sidekick you can go at any time. No time for romance or anything."

"Why'dja need romance? If there's a monstery thing. I mean, dude, look at Beowulf's death. He died fightin' a dragon, when he was old an' in that society, it totally sucked t' live that long 'thout dyin' in battle. It all 'pends on th' story. An' he didn't leave any heirs. Not a conventional Anglo Saxon hero, that one."

He gets a blank look on his face. He didn't understand half of what she just said.

Sigh, and a brief look of embarrassment.

"Just sayin' that some deaths can be heroic an' not really honorable."

"Well... yeah."

"So, well. That'd suck."

"Heroing seems to suck, really."

[victormakesart]

"Totally, dude."

[elementwizard]

"Course, being the bad guy does too."

[victormakesart]

"It sucks t' be anyone in a place wi' big-bad-evil."

"Especially those poor farmers or villagers."
