Is Music A Narcotic?
Very good question I say... Is it?
Personally, I love it more than almost anything. I find that my actions are driven by it.
Standard scenarios for potential addicts to ponder...
1) Do you find yourself ever trying to make plans to just do normal stuff with people and then having to go "oh wait, I have a show - I can't hang"?; or another scenario...
2) You wanna spend time with someone that you kinda like, but copious amounts of said shows are going on (some or for that matter, most that you are booking or promoting) and you try to kill 2 birds with one stone (or more appropriately said - 2 singer songwriters with one mic)?
I would have to say I am an addict. I am still trying to establish a balance here - but mostly I don't want to. I have days where I say, "bugger it, I do too much booking and don't have enough of a normal life - time to cut back!" and other times where I say, "this keeps my blood racing, and I friggin love it!".
Anyways - enough on that one.
Thoughts for the week other than that...
- My company is the best place in the world to work - don't argue with me on that as you will lose.
- Women in cowboy boots, western snaps and blue jeans can be jaw dropping, and if they can face off on a barstool with me over beer - even more so.
- Trying to grow a lawn is frustrating and addicting at the same time
- Walking outside in this weather is like being hit in the face by a very large skillet
- Jake Cable is one of the funniest guys I have ever worked with.
- Nashville is experiencing some of the most promising talent in town at the moment and I am blessed to work with them.
- I have been in Nashville for 2 years and have still not had a twinkie
- True indie music advocates see it as a cause first and commerce second
- Justin Hammell, Ethan Opelt, Ashley Wilcoxson, Jason Moon Wilkins and Jeremy Lister - new friends and some of the coolest mo fo's I have come to know.
- Brooke's show has got me more excited than I can describe.
- My car needs a serious clean
- PBR won the blue ribbon dammit - so don't bag it!
- Silverchair and Ryan Adams new albums will kick your ass - I promise you!
- I need to finish building the rehearsal space!!!
Anyway, I was meant to go to Ricky and Eric's show last night, but took a brief catnap and woke up at 11pm... tonight I am going to Pensacola... hellz yes!
