Summary: Six years ago, a viral outbreak spread across the United States, turning people into zombie-like Ghouls--violent creatures that spread actoss the country, killing and eating their victims. Many of the unfortunate survivors were turned themselves. Now, with real safety only found inside the Walled cities, those on the outside are left to fend for themselves.
When an infected Jared turns up on the doorstep of the Temple refuge, Jensen doesn't know what to think. The existence of Jared--a Ghoul that has somehow retained their humanity--is impossible, but it's only the first and least of the questions that he brings with him. Now Jensen has the government breaking down the door, and he must quickly find a balance between what he wants and what he'll allow himself to have.
