Major Mythology Questions:
1. It's been asked many a time, but ... Croatoan? What was that test about? Clearly demon blood *does* affect Sam. Even if you believe Ruby's claim that Sam didn't need the blood for the power, the withdrawal symptoms were real enough. But the test would seem to indicate that demon blood didn't affect Sam. And were other kids tested that way?
2. What's with the "other generations"? Rosie, for instance. And in All Hell Breaks Lose, Yellow Eyes says "there're other generations, but lets just worry about yours."
3. What about Sam's visions? Why didn't they come back when Sam started working on his other powers? And Sam never seemed to get super strength or the stop people's heart with a touch. I guess you could say he didn't have visions because they were always related to Azazel and the other kids, and Aazel and the other kids were gone. But if it were that limited, it'd be a pretty dumb power. (Also, his vision in Home wouldn't really fit that pattern.)
4. Why did all of Mary's friends and doctors and such die? They bring it up in The Kids are Alright, and never mention it again. What tracks does that cover?
5. In Sin City, the girl demon, Casey, seems to believe that the plan *was* for Sam to lead an army. But there's no point in leading an army until that first seal is broken right? I thought the real reason to open the gate to let Lilith out, and the side benefit was all the other demons who could help with the other seals.
Questions of Medium Importance:
1. Ruby and Lilith and who knew what when and how. The Crossroads Demon that Sam shot knew Ruby, called her by name and said she was a pain in her ass. Lilith seemed to genuinely want to kill Sam for awhile, and Ruby was clearly selling it as a Sam needed to protect himself situation to Dean. I'm guessing that Lilith wasn't in on the plan when she got out of hell, and Ruby clued her in when Lilith was punishing her after Dean went to hell. But that still leaves the weird Lilith-comes-to-Sam-for-a-deal situation in The Monster at the End of This Book. What was going on there?
2. Where did Sam go when he died and *did* he come back wrong? If he did, it seems to have been a different kind of wrong than he ended up becoming ... So I think not?
Minor Questions:
1. Did Sam think they'd been able to patch up this major bad wound on a dirty mattress without even taking his jacket off?
2. How come when Dean died, Bobby set to drinkin'. But when Sam died, he went out for chicken?
Observations:
1. I suppose since John wasn't out of hell yet, Yellow Eyes was still assuming he would eventually break and open the first seal. It doesn't seem to have been orchestrated that Sam would die and Dean would sell his soul. A happy coincidence (for the demons, anyway), I guess.
2. I seem to remember a lot of people saying the show needed to give some explanation for Dean's sleeping -- for how Sam was managing to sneak out on him. But there's precedent for it before Season 4. Sam snuck out after the big Dad's secret reveal, and again during the fairy tales episode, when he killed the Crossroad Demon.
3. The Crossroad Demon that Sam shot was also the first one to tell Sam he was stronger than Dean. The next episode (the ghost ship one) was where Sam said lately he didn't feel like he could save anybody. They started setting that whole mindset up a lot earlier than I gave them credit for.
4. I'd forgotten just how many times the Winchesters let Bella screw them over. Man. I'm embarrassed for them. She shot Sam, stole the lottery tickets. Stole the hand of glory. Gave Gordon their location. Stole the Colt. Sold them out to the cops. And tried to kill them for Lilith.
