(no subject)

For Christmas this year, I would like more time.  Four or five hours per day should suffice.  If there's a good sale on though, get more.

Steve bought a sprinkler for the garden, which felt like an indulgence to me, but for which I am grateful.  Steve provides my indulgences, thank goodness.  Left to my own devices, food seems like an indulgence!  Anyway, watering is my least favorite garden activity, so a sprinkler is a nice thing to have.

On the subject of the garden, I am totally annoyed that I couldn't find the time to keep notes in this here blog about it!  I had good intentions. The road to my garden is paved with them.  But it's all planted now.  I want to buy a couple of eggplants, since mine all succumbed to something or other within days of being put out.  And I want some rosemary (my seed didn't germinate) and another basil plant (only one seed - out of dozens! - germinated).  I have some flowers to stick into the ground somewhere too.

Life is busy.  At work, I am trying to learn everything I need to know in order to take over the reigns, plus we are opening a new exhibition on Saturday, and there is much to be done with regard to that.  It's also the end of the fiscal year, so there are numerous things that should be happening in preparation for that.  Normally the end-of-the-year flood of school groups would also be on this list, but they are really off this year.  It's not surprising, or particularly worrisome.  The local schools continue to make good use of our programs, and that is a good thing.  But it has become more and more difficult for teachers to take their students on field trips - even those with obvious and direct educational value.  There are a number of factors at play - not the least of which is the cost of transportation.  It's just a tough time to be a teacher, or a museum.  We'll all adapt, and then it will all change again, and then we'll all adapt again... At least it's never boring!

Jack is consistently sleeping through the night (YAY!) and not-quite-walking.  He can take half a dozen steps, as long as he doesn't realize that he is doing it.  Last night I think I caught him actually putting some thought into though.  Pretty soon his brain is going to make the connection.  Good thing it's summer, so he can go outdoors and run around!  He continues to be very cute.  I will have to post a picture soon.
