You know, I don't understand why Red Robin is so hyped. I wasn't very impressed. We went there for lunch yesterday, because I wanted fries. Except, the fries weren't that great. The burger was to my request, but it was kind of bland. Not bad, though. I just don't think it was all that.
After lunch (which was late in he first place) we were going to just run to WFM and get water. But I asked R if he minded going down to Paper Place to look at invitations. My dream has always been to have engraved invites on cotton paper. Silly, though, since I work at a printer and can buy paper wholesale. I told him I thought it would take about 30 minutes, maybe a smidge more. It took an hour and a half. I had expected that he would look at them and say "I don't care" and we'd leave. Then he decided to *have an opinion*... We went from my vague idea in my mind to white ink on navy paper, to black-on-ecru-formal. He really likes the ecru paper. I'm a white fan myself. We both want Crane's. We wrote down pricing for a bunch of different quantities and went home. On the way home, we tallied the number of invitations we expect to send out. 110ish. That's $1550!
When we got home, I started adding up all the estimates on cost. It totalled $13,250. I had a minor breakdown. We started considering the backyard. It started as a joke, but we seriously considered it for about 30 minutes. I mentioned the American Legion Hall that Anjea and Jason used for their wedding. And we adjusted pricing for that venue. Can you believe it -- $3500 less JUST by changing the location and then eliminating the need for tables and chairs.
This morning, I *finally* got an email back from the Fed. They require a full service caterer, not just "any caterer" as their site suggests. Problem. I'm not paying that. And you can't have kegs. And you have to have a TABC bartender. And and and and... Sorry, Fed. I love you, but you're not going to work. I'm too cheap for you. Johnson House, here we come!
I researched paper costs last night, too. We can still get Crane's cotton paper for (same amount needed for 150 engraved invites) for $72. And that prce is retail. I haven't called FasClampitt yet to see what my "Ginny's price" is. Printing at work, even if they charge me for the expensive plates, is $127. Looks like we're going with work! I'm supporting my local printer... I'm going to keep telling myself that...
Tonight, I think I'll watch Bridezillas and remind myself how calm I am about all this compared to those girls.
