laptop dies AGAIN

Thus, I will only be reachable via email during normal business hours for the next week or so. The hope is that I'll have my computer back by Friday. If you want to get in touch with me in the meantime during non-business hours, call or text my cell phone.

This is the second hard drive to die on me, which, as I understand it, is a very rare occurrence to have happen even once (and it happened first with a Dell and now with a Mac). This leads me to be suspicious that Megan is correct: I am emitting some sort of field. Kathy mentioned that there was some boy that kept screwing up electronics around him until they gave him a grounding wire - then, problem solved! She thinks I need to be grounded.

Also, the Mac genius at Tyson's Corner lied to me. He'd said that to replace my DVD player (which was malfunctioning due to, supposedly, being bent somehow, indicating this was my fault?), I'd have to cough up $600 because it wasn't covered under the 3-year warranty I have for my machine. The Mac genius in Dallas was baffled by this claim and said they'd happily and quickly replace the malfunctioning part (which, mysteriously, works just fine now! I really do think my various technologies hate me). Conclusion: don't trust Mac geniuses when they tell you something isn't covered under your warranty. Always ask to speak to another genius or a manager! But otherwise, I found the people at the Dallas store exceedingly helpful. Even if my laptops insist on dying on me.
