Mm, tea. Good in any weather, but particularly appreciated in winter. I hate the cold. (I think it got down to about 11 degrees this morning? I would not survive in an actual cold climate

Interesting - I actually saw Xavier as having loads of flaws, although perhaps they weren't intended to be so - I think McAvoy sort of played him with a sense of arrogance and superiority and that, even though he is a good man who does the right thing, he is still an intellectual in his ivory tower looking down on others and not understanding the realities of the world and the difficulties of his fellow mutants. But McAvoy brings such depth and charm to the role he doesn't come across as unlikable

Absolutely agree, he did have flaws. I wish the story had acknowledged it a bit more rather than leaving it as implicit in his relationship with Raven and in the shades of McAvoy's portrayal... but then what it did have in terms of allowing arguments (or at least understanding) on both sides was pretty good for a superhero flick, so maybe I should just stop complaining. *g*

Yeah, that part was interesting. I wondered if they were suggesting that the showdown on the island had affected even his ability to trust non-mutants? (Gratuitous memory-wiping or mind-altering is a pet peeve of mine, too. Luke is a HUGE perpetrator of this in certain parts of the EU.)

Yeah, POTC 4 had really obvious filler in parts.

I agree - I think the flaws/depth was all McAvoy rather than the writers and it would have been nice for him to be called on his behaviour rather than always right. I felt the "No, Erik, you did this" was a bit self-righteous. But anyway.

Yeah, good point about him losing a bit of faith, but I think if so, it should have been addressed. As it was, it almost came across as romantic, with her fondly remembering "a kiss" which is wrong wrong wrong in my opinion, especially when by that stage all of your other female characters are evil and the only one left on the good side can't be trusted.

But I enjoyed it other than that, so I guess I shouldn't complain either :D

The kiss thing was odd, especially when (unless I missed something, which is not impossible) there hadn't really been any hint at anything between them before that. (Maybe it was a last-ditch attempt to stave off the slashers! Too little too late if so...) And then the line about women in the CIA, yeah, ha ha. Kind of a strange note to hit.

There'd be no point picking at the movie if the characters weren't interesting, so it's kind of a compliment, in a way? :p

True, true. In my opinion McAvoy and Fassbender could make any characters interesting :D

The "women in the CIA" got a huge laugh in my theatre. I think there was subtext, and by that I only mean I kept expecting for there to be a moment between them, but then there wasn't, and then there was the kiss out of the blue! Very odd - cutting room floor maybe?
