*sleep-deprived post is sleep-deprived*

Just got back from a ridiculously short visit to Perth and I have concluded that a) I need to go back and spend more than a weekend there, and b) overnight flights - particularly overnight transfers - are made of pure evil. But! I did get to see the NT Live cinema screening of the Danny Boyle production of Frankenstein while I was there, and it was every bit as amazing as all the hype and they had just better produce a DVD of some sort because I need to see it again. It's stuck to my brain at the moment but I have no thoughts that are very coherent, so - yeah. I flailz articulately. (I kind of loved the audience I was in, a few of whom were having an in-depth discussion prior to the screening about Mary Shelley, the summer by the lake, and whether or not Frankenstein was the first science fiction story.)

Doctor Who: Curse of the Black Pearl Spot was a bit mediocre, given how much fun it could have been. Stephen Thompson, what is it with you? Congratulations on avoiding epic offensive stereotyping this time, but please, for the love of shows near and dear to me, fewer gaping plot holes, and do something about the lazy writing. Before series two IT'S TOO LATE.

I'm a bit ambivalent about next week's episode, not being a huge Gaiman fan*. The preview was... interesting?

*Some of his stuff I like just fine, and I haven't read Sandman or American Gods. I find that he has some odd recurring tics with female characters. And I don't know what to make of that episode title.

doctor who, frankenstein, travels to places, sherlock
