In case there's anyone else who survives on Firefox's save tabs when closing feature: the option is no longer a default in Firefox 4, but it can be activated - Enable Save Tabs on Exit for Firefox 4.

Now to try to remember what was in the two weeks of saved tabs that vanished the first time...
