I want to believe this is a joke, but nope, that sounds exactly like the kind of stupid rationale we heard for Mara's death and every other idiotic plot and characterization problem in the last several years.

I'm still having trouble wrapping my head around this, that a profic author actually thought flow-walking could resurrect Anakin. Oh wait, flow-walking in all its stupidity was conceived by Denning, for no reason other than "Hey, look! Awesome shiny Force powers!" So I guess that makes a little more sense, that he would use his own inventions, rather than logic and continuity, to bring back a character he killed off in the first place as a sort of consolation prize for killing the other Solo son.

I would say he's an idiot if he expects the readers to buy that kind of cheap trick, but then I remember the resurrect Anakin threads in Lit. Yeah. Plus there's always those people who are happy with every book, no matter what. That's great for them, but it sucks that they can be so easily sold on any plot idea, which makes it worse for those of us with higher standards.

I too am tired of Anakin being treated like a saint. I really liked his character, too, but he wasn't without flaws, and I think the fact that he was cut down in his youth, just as he was starting to come into his own, overshadows the possible negatives in his future. I can understand the characters looking back on him like that because of course they'd only want to remember the good, but I would expect real life people to be a little more objective.

Ug, I'm ranting again. Why do you do this to me, EU? *shakes fist at DR*

I can't believe how many people I would otherwise count among the more rational denizens of Lit are saying that it would have been a fantastic idea. I know that people like his character and feel his death was a mistake -- but seriously, I feel exactly the same way about Mara, and if I heard that they were going to have Mara magically come back to life through magic fairy dust or whatever the next Force power invented will be, my response would still be EPIC FAIL. If you want the EU to be taken seriously, if you want to treat both the universe and the readers with respect, you can't do things like that. I am not someone who appreciates the 'death as a temporary setback' mindset of comic books. :p

I know! I have to admit that half the characterisations I've encountered in fic don't even ring true to me with how I remember his character. The flaws and the fact he was so young -- and acted it, sometimes -- was part of what I liked about his character. And the fact that he and Jacen were so different, but it wasn't necessarily that either of them was better than the other or that one character's beliefs were right where the other's was wrong. This whole idea of Anakin as some kind of super!Jedi confuses me utterly.
