What a crappy weekend. Not a good one over at the Comedy Cabaret, I might add. Friday night I was told about 10 minutes before I was supposed to go up onstage that I should just sit this one out tonight b/c the headliner (who was my asshole teacher from the comedy class I took that some of you would remember from the graduation) got all pissy b/c the comedians were going over their time and that was cutting into his time. What a douchebag.
So then Sat night I nearly flipped out on Liz. 5 minutes before the show starts, I was told that I have to MC, which is something I have never done before. Plus it was packed last night with over 100 people in the audience. All I had time for was to collect the intros from all the comedians. So I get up there and I ask everyone if they're celebrating anything. There was a 1 year anniversary and two birthdays. So I talk to them for a little bit and make friends with the woman up front named Denise. She was drunk and very fun to talk with while onstage. Then I did my Wal Mart joke and introduced the first comedian. I thought I did ok for my first time having to do that, but apparently that wasn't good enough. Liz came to me as I'm sitting with Nikki and hands me a little note that says, "Interact with audience more. Talk to them." I looked at her and said, "What the fuck do you think I was doing?" We were pretty much going back and forth and I said fuck alot. I told her what does she expect me to do when she tells me 5 minutes before the goddam show starts and it being my first time doing it. I said if she didn't like it, I could just leave right now and she can find someone else to finish the show b/c I didn't want to hear that. She told me to calm down and to finish the show, but to "keep that in mind." Yeah I'll keep in mind how you use me and treat me like shit and expect me to do all these goddam favors for you. Right after this happened, there was a group of 3 girls sitting about 3 feet away from where I was flipping out. One of the girls came up to me and whispered, "We thought you were awesome and just to let you know that we're not with the guy that's at our table." That guy was "heckling" me, but he wasn't very good at it. I don't even remember what he was saying to be honest with you. I did better as the night went on, but there was a lot of older people in the audience and they just don't like my style of comedy. My audience is people in their 20s and 30s and mostly women. For some reason, women love my comedy. I still have guys come up to me after the show and say that I did a good job and that I was funny, but women are the ones that seem to like me the most. So I just wrote Andy an email today. He's the guy that owns the Cabaret and he does the bookings. I told him that I would like to move around a lot more instead of being in Runnemede all the time. I want try to go to different places and see what else is going on. Hopefully I can start getting some gigs at colleges and stuff like that where there's more younger people. After the show ended, this older couple came up to me and the woman said something along the lines of me not doing so well, and to keep at it. I explained to her that that was my first time having to MC and that I was told that I had to do it right before the show started. She then said, "Oh well in that case, you did a very good job." Yeah fuck you cunt.
So now I'm angry and I'm starting to see some anger come out in my act. Whatever, fuck you.
