Santized Thought

Thought is manufactured.

The strengths and weaknesses of the factory that built the product are written all over the it.

This is particularly obvious when a mind attempts to produce non-linear or creative thoughts.

Have you ever read the fiction of a mediocre talent? Littered with cliches, fluff, inauthenticity, trapped in templates and carbon copied ideas lifted from popular thought whose source is long forgotten; it's painful to read. The manufactured thought that are so heavily over-cooked and bleached of sincerity speaks to the lethal superficiality of the author. It's rare that such a defective talent has a clue as to the source of their misfortune.

A person must be able to manufacture their thoughts "up" and turn them rational and coherent and "down" to protect them from being cleaned up to deliver them raw. Creative thought requires a heavy "down" manufacturing capacity. A perverse, painful, deviant, outlandish, absurd, ego-stinging, rude thought is born and makes it to the author's conscious mind without being refined into a template or given a caveat. A mediocre talent has these thoughts, but can't resist the urge to sanitize them and flush them through filters before they can really wrap their mind around it.

A mediocre talent is socially conditioned or lacking in raw thought to such a heavy degree sanitizing thought is immediate and uncontrollable. They go through their lives perceives and thinking along well-worn lanes and paths thinking that is the world in its entirety that they are witnessing...and their art is unable to escape that tiny, little lens.

I hate sanitized thought. I can deal with a human being that has the thought and then cleans it up to speak to me. But, to be unaware it is hideous. It stinks of lack of awareness, slavishness, ignorance and blunted potential...qualities I hate more than any others. Sanitized thought formalized into creative expression or art is that much more devastating in how awful it is.

That's perhaps why i'm so impressed by creative thought that is bold, honest to a fault, cruel, raw, insane or subversive. It takes a douse of proper free-thought or temporary madness to summon those thoughts into consciousness and a special talent to do it elegantly with focus. Better insanity than sanitized...i'd rather be in an insane asylum than a drone.
