in the 5th grade i was the only girl in my class who seemed to obessively listen to the radio, nirvana, pearl jam, hole, green day and the offspring were all i listened to and loved...most girls were too busy declaring their love for boys and stuff. i just remember talking to boys about what band was better than what other band and why. all these feelings that seemed to have been kept away in some vault all came rushing back to me tonight...it was really nice. but first i had to struggle with some demons to get it back.
got to msg, standing the merch booth trying to rush them into buying their t-shirts so we could leave the horrible crowd of people. i turned my head and caught a glimpse of gina with bleached blonde hair bobbing into and through the doors...i had such a rage run through my viens and was in a terrible mood until later. got to our seats and so began the annoyance of fans, and "normal" people as tavish calls them...i really couldn't believe i was sitting at MSG period...and thought I was going to have a horribly boring time, that is until green day came on.
they played all the songs i used to tape onto blank cassettes in grammer school and listen to until they broke: she, basket case, when i come around, longveiw, maria. then they played the songs that i came to appretiate more through highschool like hitchen' a ride, good ridance, and of course waiting. the highlight was during the operation ivy cover when they pulled 3 auidence members to play their instruments, some older kid played drums, an adorable 12 year old played bass, and some other older kid played guitar. they played pretty well too i should add, the kid that played was given the guitar from billy, and the other two kids stage dove into the crowd. at the end of greenday's set and mike set his bass on fire, he got the little kid that played bass on stage again and gave him the bass guitar, it was just really great. oh, i love green day!
blink were well...over the top, too many pyrotechniques, a rotating drumkit that was lifted in the air that was a bit impressive but still over the top and well, and the sound was really bad compared to green day.
caught the first train home minutes after we got to penn station, no highshool run-ins, which made me happy. i still can't believe that i saw gina. whatever. no time to think about that...i am going to sit here and listen to green day and think about happy things from my childhood.
on that note, i dreamt about Ronnie last night...i haven't seen him in 4 years. we were the best of friends...he was like my brother, i wish i had that sort of relationship right now.
