Today's Fun Filled LJ Episode; Let's Feel Old
My Favorites link to lj stopped working. I don't understand why as it hasn't changed in four years.
Thursday night I used what the Simpsons called 'Super-limnal messages' to recruit people to chess club. That means I said "Hey come play chess" to the people whom I passed on my way to the 2nd floor of the ASU student union.
33% success. One girl did come to play. I taught her how to move the pieces while the guys yelled crude sex and religion taunts* We have quite a streak of new people that never returned, including all the females. I know we talked trash in the Toledo and my high school clubs but I think the internet has really dragged down the bar by saturating vulgarity.
Actually I asked one of the younger players if he thought the net had changed things and he said plainly "I'm only 20, there's always been an internet my entire life."
* The Jewish players really bring the anti-semitist ones in obvious sarcarstic fashion.
