A member of the Order of the Pelican (SCA), an order I belong to, is being taken off life support today. She was feeling ill after her elevation ceremony and went home from the event early.
She has been diagnosed with H1N1. I did not know her personally but I know from personal experience that you don't get to be a Pelican by going to bed early and getting plenty of rest. Most (not all) Pelicans push themselves too hard. I can't help but wonder if she was pushing herself hard during and before the event.
I have a tiny bit of hope that she will continue on after they pull hr off life support; that she will show that she's not ready to go. That will probably not be the case.
